Rania Nasser Presenting the Masks to Tanzania Police Dept.

BARAKOA TZ - Need of the Hour

Barakoa Tz was started on April 18, 2020 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania by Rania Nasser as a response to the need for masks at the nearby police station next to her home. Her intention was to make a dozen or so masks for the police men and give them for free.

Within a week, the requests for masks increased dramatically, so Rania Nasser decided that she was going to need help.

She put out a call to friends and family for help. Soon local news media became aware of her mission and after the broadcast volunteers began to surface.

It has now been a few weeks since Barakoa Tz started and since then Barakoa Tz has made and donated over 6,000 masks to essential workers, medical professionals, law enforcements, first responders and those most in need. This has been made possible through the countless hours of sewing, cutting and shipping by our volunteers and the generosity with support of donors.

OUR COMMITMENT

We remain committed to still providing masks for free to those in need. To help us with our mission we have opened a small on-line shop offering Special Edition masks. Money from the sales of these masks go directly to help get masks and materials distributed.
